FTE
Mustang Cobra
February 2001
- December 2003
The Mustang was released in Australia after
not being on sale for 30 years. Sold under Ford/Tickford's
FTE brand with the AU Ford Falcon T-Series and Ford Cougar,
the 2001 FTE Mustang Cobra is different to the US version,
in many ways. The first thing you notice are the extra driving
lights, put on as the existing Japanese spec ones did not
meet Australian Design Rules. It has been under an expensive
and extensive right hook conversion for the Australian market.
Tickford has made 150 major new parts and 200 minor new
parts, plus modifying a further 50 existing parts (eg, moving
the engine and gearbox 25mm to the left, etc.). "It's
a much better car than the Americans get and a much better
car than we thought we were going to get." March 2001
Motor Magazine.
