Ford introduced the fifth generation 2005 model year Mustang
at the 2004 North American International Auto Show, codenamed
"S-197," that was based on the new D2C platform.
Production started September 2004, with U.S. market launch
and customer delivery beginning at the end of October 2004.
Production ended in late 2008 for the 2009 model replaced
by facelifted 2010 model year Mustang in 2009.
