The TJ Mitsubishi Magna
and KJ Verada was released in August 2000 as an upgrade
of the TH/KH series. The TJ offered revised styling with
a revised front and changes to the rear and also marked
the start of the VR-X model. The TJ
had a number of rolling updates with an upgrade VR-X range
in May 2001 and the MY02 update in September 2001. The TJ
MY02 was replaced by the TJ Series II Magna in July 2002.

September 2001.

A further development of the VR-X inspired by the Lancer
rally car, it had a bi-plane deck lid spoiler inspired by
the limited edition Lancer Evolution VI TME. It also had
AWD, Recaro front seats, MOMO steering wheel and gear levers
as part of a loud black and bright red interior. A precursor
to the actual model released in February 2002.

A Magna wagon with Sports/VR-X
drivetrain, with a dark purple ChromaFlair exterior and

Australian
GT Production Car Championship
A TJ Magna Sports, driven by
Robert Chadwick, and sponsored by Mitsubishi Electric, participated
in the 2001 Australian GT Production Car Championship, coming
third in Class D : Six Cylinder Touring Cars. The TJ Magna
Sports won Class D of the GT Production Showroom Showdown
Race at Bathurst and a V8-powered RWD Magna contested the
V8 Future Touring class of the 200001 Australian Super
Touring Championship.
