August 1997 - August
2000
The VT Holden
Commodore marked the third generation of the model, replacing
the VS Series II model in August 1997. Based on the Opel Omega
design, the new generation was confined to short wheelbase sedans
and wagons for the VT series with the Statesman, Caprice and
utility models carrying over from the VS. The VT Series II model
arrived in mid-1999, notably with the introduction of the Gen
III 5.7L V8. The WH Holden Statesman and Caprice were released
in June 1999, adopting the VT styling, and replacing the VS
Series III model. The VT Commodore model was replaced by the
VX model in August 2000.
The WH contiued along with the VX, being replaced by the WK
Statesman and Caprice in May 2003
